Body Torso Elevation for GERD and Acid Reflux

DEFINITION OF GERD: (Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease) is best defined as the symptoms and/or esophageal mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus, causing heartburn or acid regurgitation.

BACKGROUND AND SYMPTOMS:
Although this often produces discomfort, like burning in the upper chest, indigestion, choking at night and a possible sore throat, there is sometimes no discomfort whatsoever. This prospect is a little disheartening because the stomach acid can be damaging the esophagus without the patient being aware of such until it is too late. In late stages, this disorder can lead to erosion or even cancer of the esophagus. Thus, it is quite important to consult a physician if you suspect you might have such. Approximately 7% of the population suffer from acid reflux.

SIGNS: snoring, choking or breathing problems often noticed by a spouse or partnersore throat upon awakeningoften preceded by recent weight gain around the abdomenMEDICATIONS:
H2 Blockers - most commonly Tagament, Pepcid or Zantac and function to reduce stomach acid in mild cases.Proton Pump Inhibitors - most commonly Nexium and Prilosec, function to decrease stomach acid production and thereby provide the chance for the esophagus lining to heal. Usually used in the more severe cases or if H2 Blockers should fail.Antacids - most commonly Mylanta, Tums or Rolaids, function to buffer an acid stomach and are used more symtomatically in intermittent cases of heartburn.

One common problem with all the above medications that is not often considered by physicians and/or patients is the fact that decreasing or buffering stomach acid, stifles proper protein digestion leading to decreased absorption of nutrients and improper elimination via bowel movements. Thus, sensible natural alternatives should be considered. One proven such alternative frequently recommended by gastroenterologists is upper body or torso elevation while sleeping.
ELEVATING YOUR UPPER BODY WHILE SLEEPING
There are 2 viable methods of elevating the body to relieve the symptoms of reflux or GERD. Use an electric adjustable bed. The head and leg portion are both adjustable and can offer great comfort if combined with the right foam mattress. NOTE: a RX from your physician can often substantiate insurance re-imbursement as a necessary medical device.Use a torso elevating foam or inflatable bed wedge. This is an economical method and also the inflatable type facilitates the ability to travel without discomfort from your acid reflux condition. Most patients find the inflatable type more comfortable than foam even for use at home. Either wedge may be placed at the head of the bed, either on top of the mattress or underneath the mattress. If used on top, we recommend that you use your head/neck pillow on top of the wedge. A soft pillow should be utilized to keep the knees slightly bent to prevent causing low back discomfort when sleeping face up. A wedge may be utilized in both face up and side postures.
DO NOT use regular pillows to elevate the body, they allow slumping and bending of the esophagus and thus allow acid accumulation in the bend.ALTERNATIVE NUTRITIONAL COMPONENTS
It's sufficient to say at this time that there are some very good alternatives for the medications that are conventionally prescribed for GERD and acid reflux. However, we'll save that for a future post.

DR. OZ – The Wellness Messiah

As a retired chiropractic physician and quasi wellness expert I have long espoused the true philosophy of wellness. I’m what Doctor Oz would call a “wellness warrior”. I can really relate to the philosophy administered by Dr. Oz and the Dr. Oz show team. It pleases me to note that a well-respected medical doctor like Mehmet Oz is reaching a vast audience with a common sense approach for care of the human frame. As a nation we have lived in an environment whereby doctors have hastily recommended surgery or loaded patients up with powerful medicines. We must turn our focus to health and away from simply treating diseases as they arise. I’ll take this moment to commend Dr. Oz for his valiant efforts and designate him the “Wellness Messiah”.

Personally, I have lived true to the wellness warrior lifestyle and strongly advocated such to my friends and family members. During my journey as a health care provider I often experienced the need to overcome negative rhetoric surrounding the chiropractic profession from both patients and allopathic (conventional medicine) colleagues. I found it interesting that patients dosed with multiple medications from their medical doctor(s) were often those that suffered from the greatest ill-health. I have jousted with patient apprehension for alternative therapies, yet have been joyful when the acceptance of such produced a welcomed result.

I believe chiropractors were the first modern day wellness professionals although ancient medicine had its origins in what we now consider alternative therapies. The foundation of the wellness warrior is a strong belief in the innate recuperative powers of the human body. An active, harmonious lifestyle combined with a balanced, colorful, and sustainable diet is the way of the warrior. Key components exclude processed grains and sugars, but require proper breathing, movement (exercise), dependence on vital plants/herbs and judicious use of all Mother Earth’s bounties.

“Let me take this opportunity to join Dr. Oz in welcoming new Wellness Warriors to a vital and long life.”

What Is Stress?

Stress Face Stress Face

What is stress? is the top question that has been coming in lately. Technically stress is a chemical reaction in the body. There are different causes of stress, but what is important is how the body responds. Let’s look at some causes of stress as well as the reaction that happens in the body.

Stress Is A Response
Stress is the body’s response to one or more extremes. The extreme can be almost anything; temperature, junk food, intense emotions, toxic exposure, injury, over-exercising, too little sleep, etc. The body’s response is the same no mater what the cause.

Fight Flight Response To Stress
The body responds primarily by releasing powerful hormones that prepare the body for fight or flight. The heart beats faster, breathing increases, blood vesicles open filling the muscles with fuel, the mind and vision sharpen and focus on the threat. Every fiber screams to get the hell out of there or attack whatever is needed. The body is thrown into overdrive by hormones that affect the body deeply.

A few thousand years ago this worked great. Most stress factors we have today were nonexistent then. The air, water and food were pure — OK, there were microbes, that was one of our biggest threats, not really talking about that one here. But, there was no junk food, traffic, or getting into conflict with no release for those intense chemical changes. Basically our ancestors experienced as much stress in 40 years the typical westerner does in less than a year.

Release Is Needed
The fight or flight chemical changes that allow the body to survive intense situations are toxic or at least harmful to the system. So, they need to be cleared from the system. Using up the chemicals while running away or fighting for dear life is natures way of dealing dissipating them. We don’t get to do that very often in the modern world.

Chronic Fight Flight
Stuffing down the reaction to daily stress leads to the body being in a constant state of fight or flight. The body becomes “hyper-vigilant” where there is a constant tension, a preparation, for running or fighting. This not normal or healthy though it is quite common.

Body Systems Are Shut Off
There are systems that are not needed when the body readies itself for battle, so they are shut off. Digestion, reproduction, sex, cellular repair, the immune system, detoxification, even the absorption of nutrients are all turned off or seriously impaired. This is discussed in this article on how the hypothalamus gets locked “on.”

How To Reduce Stress
There is a cycle of having  more stress as a reaction to stress, a self perpetuating situation. Relaxing herbs for stress and a long vacation will end this cycle, in most cases. Applied Kinesiology has techniques for changing this quickly.

A fairly new and very easy technique that I have been using lately can be found in The Emotion Code
by Bradley Nelson. There is a problem with  finding the emotions though. And, there are several levels of the fight or flight mechanism. I’ll see about presenting this information if there is enough interest. Let me know in the comments below.

Fast broken bone healing Protocol

Broken Hand BoneBroken hand Bone

With a little help broken bones can heal much faster than doctors say. Once I told this to my boss over 30 years ago, long before I knew a lot about health to all. I knew something like I had the interest even then. I had read that several health-related books, mostly Adel Davis. She was reading is my mentor at the same time. Since then has changed a lot, but still my boss healed in half the time.

In fact, his doctor was shocked. Was a clean break, but said it would take ten weeks or so. Five weeks after Dave asked for x-rays, doc, but said it would be impractical, as they should have cast off and there is no way it was healed yet.

Dave went fishing for a few days later and destroyed the cast. Monday had to insist on an x-ray, before being smesse up again .doc said that the only way that he could find the fracture was because he knew where it was!

My arm had a fracture more that needed to take 16 weeks to heal and 3 months before I could start the exercise more than just a little. it took 8 weeks and two months after the break I was working with 20 pounds, a good amount of me in General.

I started a bit late supplements. Ideally one would take them before the break, but that is rather difficult to schedule. The first you can get started on them the better because a lot happens right after a serious injury.

The right form of calcium
One of the most important things is to have a good supply bioavailable football which means its been ionized. This occurs in the presence of strong hydrochloric acid (HCl) stomach. most people don't produce enough HCl to do it, then you will need to take supplements. However there is a problem.

Removing h. pylori
One thing that makes of HCl is Sterilise the contents of the stomach — way of nature protects us from pathogens. without a very common bacterium that causes ulcers takes possession. now is very easy to eliminate h. pylori drinking two cups of tea of Brassica per day for 10 days. Is really good for you, so you get a little extra, if possible.

Most people can work to get rid of bacteria and take the HCl at the same time, until there is no history of an ulcer. But it's pretty uncomfortable for those who can't, however, so that might be helpful to drink tea in the first place. If it takes the list and burn stomach then take some baking soda to neutralize and drink tea for 10 days before trying again.

Removing h. pylori has been researched at Johns Hopkins University have discovered how to delete it with an antioxidant found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and Brussels sprouts. Here's where you can get the tea of Brassica that is rich in the antioxidant.

You can obtain Betaine HCl to most grocery stores, or obtain one from the standard process.

Herbs for the pain and healing
My experience with herbs suggested is that they really helped with the pain and their aid and the healing process.

Most are from standard process supplements, some of the best supplements throughout the world.Distribute the products of MediHerb too. both can be found online, but they aren't supposed to be. can I get off their 20% if you like it, better than line.I'll send you an email of that discount if you like.

BONE HEALING PROTOCOL
Take supplements with herbs and food on an empty stomach — two hours after eating one hour before eating. Both with food is much easier to remember and well to do, but to separate the herbs, if possible.

Betaine HCl: 1200 mg when you eat (except very small snacks that are better still ignored.)
Biost: three twice daily
Calcifood: six wafer or spoon power twice daily for two weeks then three slices or half tablespoon power twice a day.
Calmer: three twice daily
Whole dried Spleen: three twice daily
Vitamin d 5000 units per day — make sure there's some fat in flour you take vitamin d with.

The above are the major integrators. I thought it would break if for those who may be on a budget. get these, if possible.

Ostrophin PMG: three twice a day — really cool stuff, recounts the bone to rebuild DNA level.
F: Cataplex two am, a PM. This is particularly important if not eat fish or take fish oils regularly.

Herbs
Echinacea Premium: two tabs or mL 4 m, a card or mL 4 pm
Ginko: two tabs or 2 mL are, a card or mL 1 pm

I prefer liquid herbs, because they are more profitable and tasting herbs increases effectiveness. If you get the tabs, because you don't like the taste, try to suck on their long enough for the only taste before swallowing. even a little can help a lot.

There is how to heal a broken bone quickly the fundamentals. hopefully recover well with no after effects from your wound.

Adrenal Fatigue at Funds, Limited

This email came in the form of a woman who knows today by a proof of two years ago that has adrenal fatigue. Her husband had triple bypass surgery at the age of 50 years. Stress left in worst form, with debilitating insomnia, a common result of adrenal fatigue. Compounds the problem you really don't have money for supplements and herbs that will help her out of her disorder adrenal.

Here's what I wrote to you:

The cause of clogged arteries thy husband casue is the same (at least one of them) of your adrenal fatigue: food and sugar.

OK, I am not psychic and I could be wrong, but that's usually the case. the fact is that foods are the root cause of most of our modern ailments.

You can help yourself much to eat not any grain or sugar at all. But, that is very difficult to make the Turkey cold.

Start with sugar, takes approximately five days to the desire to reduce, one month to go away completely. Most animal proteins helps. it's all sugars, even those "sane". Honey, for example, is actually worse than table sugar in certain ways.

Stop cereals refined asap — don't go crazy!Start eliminating cereals refined work slowly.A refined wheat is something that has been cut or earth, "wheat" doesn't mean a thing for adrenals, if it is cut because releasing sugar almost as fast as table sugar.

Then start restricting all whole grains as well.

Finally, adrenals are guided by the hypothalamus gland that reacts to intense emotions (stress) tells the pituitary gland to tell adrenals to produce stress hormones. you can activate the hypothalamus effectively with some relaxing herbal herbs. some would be a good investment. getting the combination of the relaxing grass that are ground into capsules. one day drinking a couple of cups of Kava works well for some people.

Get some other herbs and supplements, as you can afford them.

Does sugar cause heart disease

Coronary Artery LesionCoronary artery Lesion

There's a lot of misinformation out there about what causes heart disease. Fats and cholesterol are still expected to be major villains, whereas studies show that isn't the case. While some other dietary factors contribute, sugar and foods are initiators of coronary disease. here's what junk food makes to your arteries.

Blood sugar State
The body keeps a very close tabs on millions of different processes that happen all the time.It claims to balance so that the way in which it is assumed that everything can happen.A major priority is to keep blood sugar levels within certain limits. powerful hormones are used to maintain equilibrium. sugar consumption and food is simply something your body didn't evolve to manage, and has a hard time maintaining a good balance blood sugar, when they are eaten. Adding modern of processed food has led to a population with blood sugar levels that are chronically too high and too low.

High blood sugar cause disease
Hyperinsulinism is the beginning of all major diseases. The destructive path is different in each case, but the common cause is undeniable. Biochemistry long known as well as recent studies have shown this.

What is Junk Food?
Any sugar or ground wheat in any form.

These processed foods will cause the peak corresponding, with a peak of insulin to lower blood sugar levels. And that excess insulin causes a lot of the same type of damage which is the high sugar.

Artery Walls of sugar Nicks
High levels of blood sugar causes the Nick in artery walls that patch of cholesterol.Cholesterol is only doing his job, clogs in the artery are caused by repair constantly needed.

The obvious solution
Of course we all know that we must avoid junk food. but not we always think of a sandwich as something that might actually be bad for us, but two slices of bread is like eating 4 table spoons of sugar! This is based on glycemic load, how food affects your blood glucose.

Avoiding processed food all the time is not always necessary. After all, what is life without a bit of fun? but limits are necessary to ensure a long and healthy life. Eat a balanced diet with plenty of vegetables and have some treat after is the best way to mitigate the problems treated because of food.
